VA : Abstract Magazine N°5 [1985]

Before Rob Deacon was the instiguator of the famous « Volume » series, he was, in the mid 80’s, involved in the « Abstract Magazine » project. So far i know, there was just only 2 exclusive compilation that were pressed, number 5 and … number 6 (!). The principle was to propose exclusive and specifically recorded tracks for these compilation. Here is a panel from some bands who were active in 1985 plus an unlisted secret track recorded by In The Nursery. But if more informations needed, i’ve included the complete magazine in this post.

The Wolfgang Press : Raintime (12’’) 1989

It seems that since some months The Wolfgang Press are more « modal » than ever ! I saw some blogs posting good stuff from them & others that i like a lot. But my question is, as a numbered man … strange, i try to post that i’ve not seen elsewhere on other blogs and then, and then, it came out so spontaneously on the blogosphere. Yeah, why not, this area is made to share… If my shadow can help, why not … God thanks, i’ve no ego trip. Just look a the few comments on this blog. But what is realy share ? To communicate, to like something, to take time leave a comment ? Wah ! The world we’re living today ! The Wolfgang Press are very nice guys, i made an interview with them in 1995, Mike Allen especially of course, i recorded it on my poor tape and was never released… I was like a teenager meeting his favourit band (like a Beatles fan interwieving the Beatles ! ! !). So, here is a 12 inch that i bought at the right time, and i remember to have made some « parties » with this in 1990 !
If you’re realy interrested about more informations, you know where. Cause that all they want, are informations, informations… But i’m not only a number, and not especially the number 6…

So, here are 2 another A.R Kane’s 12’’. The first one " Listen Up " ! under the ARK pseudo, sounds more like a collapsing sampling party. Alike a " pump up the volume " excercise. A little bit poor maybe, but it was in 1988. Sorry about some " jumps " at the beginning of both tracks. The second one " Love-Sick " more as what we know from the band, close in sounds and textures to the " 69 " album, it was also the same period. Except " Green Hazed Daze " (avalaible on the " Americana " compilation) all tracks are unavalaible & were never officialy reissued. I wished, i had a better sound & hope that it’ll be avalaible again…

AC Marias : Just Talk [12’’] (1986)

Involved with Wire’s crue ( Bruce Gilbert & Graham Lewis ) in the late 70’s. Angela Conway ( Marias ) explored new and unusuals approaches to this record. ‘Just Talk’ is a minimalist and repeated process of guitars loops. Echoing with a minimal strings synthesizer. The whole covered by Angela’s sweet and floating voice. It reminds me some ‘electronica’ pieces from the early 90’s. A subtly mix of hypnotic waves and etheral backgrounds. The vocal title was reissued on ‘One Of Our Girls (has gone missing)’ album, in 1989.

Bauhaus : Live in Milano (1982)

Bauhaus, a quiet band discribed as "gothic". Not really in my own opinion. This gave me the opportunity to ripp my LP of their concert played in 1982 in Milano. This is the way to listen them live, with the energy of a powerfull rock. Punk but deep in sounds and tensions. Peter Murphy as a charismatic singer supported by Dany Ash (guitar), David J. (bass) and his brother Kevin Haskins (drums). Bauhaus is a unique experience, multi-influenced by several kind of "roots". Not gothic but very inspired. This LP is a 400 Limited Edition bootleg and was pressed by the german Geebo Geebo records " company ". So, enjoy them live !

So, here is a bootleg in one big file of a set performed in Bornemouth ( England ) in 1984. Sound is just bad enough for any curious listener. But if you’re involved in the 80’s and want understand more, then this is for you. Of course, i can give you the rate to listen to the official releases, better in sounds and production. But too easy to find everywhere ! I have to thank this german girl from Nuremberg, providing me this tape in the early 90’s. Take it as a testimony. More nervous at the end, cause Dany’s velocity. …Just following the previous steps, this is the original 12 inch that came out in 1983 but this time covered by Ivo’s project , This Mortal Coïl. In fact, a meeting between several artists on the 4AD label. If i’m right, it seems that only two tracks are avalaible again through cd reissues, and i think that « Sixteen (Reprise) » is just avalaible here, on that vinyl. Maybe i’m wrong, so comments are here … After two decades, anecdotik i think !

Modern English : Gathering Dust 7’’

Here is a prefigure of the forthcomming 90’s. A clever combination between sounds & melody ( especially on ‘Gathering Dust’ title ). A kind of sound that became more popular troughout a lot of noisy & guitars band at the end of the 80’s. A little bit underrated at their time, hidden behind Bauhaus & consorts, Modern English was nevertheless a significant band by the growing new 4AD label. This is their second original 7 inch single that came out in 1980. The B-side " Tranquility Of A Summer Moment (Vice Versa) " is avalaible again troughout the CD reissue of the " Mesh & Lace " LP.

Here is the first take of A.R Kane on ‘One Little Indian’ before the rest, just before their rising into the stratosphere of 4AD and the following pump up … A testimony of their roots, at that time, a time of noises and lushes. A wreck of sounds and collapsed music … Not easy, because in the 80’s there was not a lot of informations about anything, tracks & order, an awesome 12’’ without any tracklisting … Just drag the future …

Just enjoy the last track « So Far Away » announcing the future to a « Cocteaulized » label.

Spacemen 3 - Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs To

Here’s the original LP issued in 1990 by the U.S Father Yod label. Not my fave but at this time, a significant testimony of Spacemen’s 3 debut career. Hopefully reissued by Bomp records on Compact Disc - with a different tracklisting order - and added with bonuses, because, the vinyl issue is not from best quality. A clean vinyl but a bad press. Obviously, any Spacemen fan can’t avoid this one, an unbelievable crossover from The Velvet Underground to The MC5, a large part of hypnotic blues played with dirty noises. Of course, the alternatives complements for this record are «Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs To» on Compact Disc reissued by Space Age Recordings (Sonic Boom’s own label) and «For All The Fucked Up Children Of This World We Give You Spacemen 3 » on Sympathy For The Record Industry. So, just hope you enjoy this one in spite of low vinyl quality. But what a cover artwork ! More Spacemen 3 rares if wanted in the future …

Dif Juz : Who Says So ?

They were another great part of the old 4AD « house ». Introduced by The Cocteau Twins in the early 80’s, their music sounds truly like an extented mix of several influences. From rock to pop, from pop to dub, from dub to post-rock, from post-rock to instrumental … a wider range of sounds and melodies. Dif Juz recorded two EPs for 4AD in 1981, « Huremics » and « Vibrating Air » , very rare to find today in their respectives original vinyl forms. But reissued on the 1999 « Soundpool » Compact Disc compilation. In this case, you can listen to the differences between Dif Juz’s original production ( more « rock » ) and Robin Guthrie’s production ( more « Cocteaulized » ) on « Out Of The Trees» compiling these 2 Eps and released in 1986.

But here is a unique mini-LP recorded for an other label than 4AD, it was released on Red Flame in 1983. In my opinion, the best patchwork of Dif Juz faculties, this is a self-production, so a real taste of the band and a good introduction to their music. All tracks are far ahead in time, hard to say what kind of stuff or music style they’re playing here, anyway a great « soundcard » from Dif Juz. Titles like « Channel » or « Tabla Piece » are beautifull & opens the way to others like Cinematic Orchestra or Tortoise. Check out this pretty avant-garde rarity …

Various Artists : Presage(s)

So, here we are. And here are the youg men from the 80’s. I came on the idea to share some records from this period (1980-1990). At this time i was a lot involved in purchasing wave’s & indie records. As teenager i was convainced by bands like Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus … Everything what was on 4AD or Factory … No cd’s avalaible during this decade, just a few at the end of the 80’s with bonus tracks that not appears on vinyl issues … Just to « promote » this new « media ». So, i’ve decided to reactivate the original Sounds Of Champaign blogspot’s and to change it to Wave’s Of Champaign cause the new musical way & direction that i’ll be delivered here. I’ll try to share rare & collectable vinyls from that period, sometimes very expensive to buy today. Maybe cd’s sometimes, when not easy avalaible … I just want « promote » records from the 80’s, as i was a teenager, also to say that the 80’s were not only a bad musical decade as many people thought !

Presage(s) is the first « compilation » recorded by 4AD in 1980, a 12 inch featuring the few bands hosted by the label. As i was ripping this, i listened to Modern English’s « home » title (the best track on this comp in my opinion) and thought : oh ! it’s an other version, so slow ! ! but i played the vinyl since Side One at 33rpm, and haven’t realize that usually it runs at 45rpm ! ! …So, a bizarre mix of punk, rock, noises and «valuables » voices ! Not the best from 4AD, but an undubitous curiosity , just for the anecdote …

Ennio Morricone : Le Clan Des Siciliens

I was 7 or 8 years old as i saw this movie for the first time, and was suddenly addicted by the soundtrack. A recurent theme, between dark & light. It’s one of the movie i saw the most, just for the music, and the story of course…Legendary actors like Jean Gabin, Lino Ventura and Alain Delon are playing the main characters. Anyway, one of my favourit Morricone’s score. I was « hunting » this soundtrack LP for years before the CD reissue came out, and found the vinyl 10 years ago very cheap and in good condition. A title like « snack bar » is especially made for comfort and lounging activities, otherwise, « tema per Le Goff » more for a car chase ! Each tracks are quiet associated with the deep and nostalgic atmosphere of the movie. Much underrated, i think, and gloomy like i like it ! This is a french 1979 LP reissue of the 1969 movie. Enjoy the sicilians…

Here is an other record from the April Orchestra series, featuring Catherine Lara ( i think ) and Jean Musy. Like everytime, a place where a lot of ( lately ) famous people meets the illustration music. An easier work for me, because i pre-recorded it since a while…No the best of this series, but not the worst. Very quiet to listen and good orchestrated. Anyway good enough to find nice riffs, brakes & samples…enjoy ! The scans are not from vol.8, as mentioned in the tags, but vol.3, last time they died some experiences with number 06 !

The funiest record ever on Sounds Of Champaign, after a request, i decided to ripp "Tchip Tchip". Here is it now, full of funny-moogs, carnavalesque with "Tchip Tchip" aka the french title "La Danse Des Canards", enlightments with "Solitaire" and pop tunes with "Sweet Rosalia" ( my fave track ) . Some good breaks, and enough good themes but sometimes inequal. Maybe to keep with a copy of "Pop-Corn". So be fun and then everything is allright !

Here is an obscure and rare to find 2LP set featuring a lot of wha-whas, moogs, hammonds and heavy basslines, would be said that’s cut for any dancefloors but looks more like a journey through pieces of funk, disco, proto-experimental songs and some really kitsch titles. Resonance & The Peppers, two different projects inside just one. A pseudonym behind the title tracks ( BACSON ), in fact Pierre BAChelet + Mat CamiSON, nothing to do and no comparaison with Bachelet’s later work during the 80’s in France ! ( top variety performer ). And then let us not forget Pierre Alain Dahan, a composer and musician impossible to avoid, very prolific and most involved into library and illustration musics ( Telemusic etc…). This is the link between « Editions Musicales Sforzando ». So, this is maybe a groovy part of the 70’s french funk scene. A hard work this time, because 2 vinyls needs more time to be ripped than 1, isn’t it ?…Hope you enjoy it for what it is !

Here is my first « exercise » and self-made compilation recorded especially for Sounds Of Champaign. Usually, i post only original vinyls, i know. So i'm back with my very first love, a too rare John Barry soundtrack called "The Whisperers". Never seen the movie of course, what does my TV satellite set ?
Near my state of mind now, maybe. A sad, minimalist and powerfull soundtrack...Near my faith and near my music... No flea market for this LP, i found it on a vinyl trade convention a long time ago. Happilly not too expensive. But what a surprise as i came back at home, to listen to that kind of "sad-o-romantic" atmosphere ! Enjoy, yes, enjoy the mood of the whisperers...

Enoch Light & The Light Brigade

I have to confess that i'm not a specialist of Enoch Light, this is my unique LP of him. But i saw last years a lot of blogs sharing his work. Of course, i downloaded all...And i discovered that i was more hooked by The Brass Menagerie Ensemble...Until this day, i've never seen this LP on other blogs or "sharewares" places.

I found this LP, like many others on Sounds Of Champaign, on a flea market. I was fascinated by the artwork, coincidence or not, as a primary Bauhaus fan (the band) then the movment. Josef Albers taught at the famous Bauhaus school from 1923 until 1933 ( year of the end of anything in germany ) and designed the sleeve. But be back on Enoch & the Light Brigade (not for a war) just for pure Command sounds...And it was a sort of "command" from my friend MarcoDisco, he is a specialist as well, thanks man for every sound ! So, this is just to complete Tam Tam & Melodie's work with my very few contribution. Sorry guys about my bad artwork scans, yeah! my first gatefold sleeve, bad enough but a lot to read about some technical appreciations to record good music. Never Enough from Light !!!! So hard to try a kind of writed english humor, with my native german/french mind ! Just enjoy this original vinyl...without to be numbered...

Beware ! You have to be informed that this record is for some people inaudible. But for freaks, here are the last whispers of a dying vinyl ! Because i bought it on a flea market. The sound quality is not so good, you will hear a lot of « burning » noises. The worst ever posted on Sounds Of Champaign, but this is a pure Ero-exotica record ! If you really like it, then you will forget the crackles… Just listen to « Laure » and then you will find that Air or another present french pop groups are not far away…A lot of gems to hear, between exotica, erotica and easy-listening. Now is winter, and this help to maintain a tropical temperature ! A reissue of this LP where higly appreciated !

So maybe it’s not the right place to ask about a personnal request, because Sounds Of Champaign is especially made for " past vinyls " and assorted. But, since years, i like other kinds of music. I grew up, as teenager, in the 80’s. And i was allways listening to 4AD, Beggars Banquet or Factory records…So, today, i’m happy to have a lot of originals records from that time. Few years later, i became a huge fan of a band called " Seefeel ". Have all records from them, half on original LP’s, half on original CD’s…except Ch-Vox (on Rephlex records). I bought " Quique ", an double-LP, in 1993 and was suddenly addicted. Especially by the track called " filter dub ". If anybody has " Quique " as CD, and the track " filter dub (low pass remix) " version. Let me know ! It’s so hard to find today…This would be my only request to Santa Claus this year ! ! Here are 2 singles from Nino Ferrer, a hit maker hating the music business during the 60's. Influenced by R'n'B, his work was oriented like a self-made man. An outsider inside the music industry...

Like Dr. Jekyll & Mister Hyde (not the Serge Gainsbourg song) he made music for people, but was, usually, unsatisfied by his own production. Two faces...The first one with "Le Telefon" a pure sixties gem, and the other one with"Le Sud", a pure 70's arrengment and a big hit. "Le Telefon" EP came from my Grand Father, this is the reason that the sound is better to hear. But, i found "Le Sud" on a flea market, so popular, that you can hear fire crackles on the way !

I recommand you the full LP called NINO & RADIAH - Le Sud, recorded in 1973 at the Trident Studio in England. One of his best sound...Unfortunatly he commited suicide in August 1998...

Here is an amazing LP, where you can « hear » Bruce Lee like never before. Fighting, screaming and loving so much…This is not a real soundtrack in its form like others, but more a sound & atmosphere « collage ». Here is a UFO, a gift for kung-fu freaks, full of kung-fu noises. A real good stuff for DJ’s, including a lot of dialogues and musical patterns. The original press of this LP features some mistakes, like the labelling print and the time credits for few tracks. I wished i could read chinese ! to collect more informations on the back cover of this japanese reissued LP…Music is composed by Joseph Koo ( aka - Ku Chia Hui ), Songs by Mike Remedios…

This is definitly an easy listening for the hard of hearing ! ! !

Here is another great music illustration series. This french record company - under the name Editions Musicales SFORZANDO - made a lot of records from the end of the 60's until the beginning of the 80's. Like other musical illustrators, it was a melting-pot of emerging scenes featuring some famous musicians.

Look here for further informations about their catalog. The number - are we really numbered ? - 82 was recorded in 1980. Maybe used for any TV or Radio backgrounds, sounds of the future at this time, you have just to listen to "baby symphony" to discover sounds of the near coming New Order's "Power, corruption & lies". Who said that in the 80's everything was wrong ? If your way to listening is large enough then you will understand what i mean...

Another big one with and from Geoff Love, This man produced Shirley Bassey and a lot of other artists. This LP came from a friend, in my work place, he bought it in England at the right time...Two hits that you can't miss, the first one "Airport 75" a really good cover from J. Cacavas and "Three days of the Condor" a famous soundtrack from Dave Grusin. He made a lot of records - sometime inequal - but always devoted to the re-orchestration of popular waves...

died on. 8 July 1991, London, England.

"Love was a musical director, arranger, composer and one of the UK’s most popular easy-listening music personalities. His father, Kid Love, was World Champion sand dancer, and came to the UK from the USA. Geoff Love learned to play the trombone in his local brass band and made his first broadcast in 1937 on Radio Normandy. He moved to the south of England, and played with violinist Jan Ralfini’s Dance Orchestra in London and with the Alan Green Band in Hastings. After six years in the army during World War II, he joined Harry Gold’s Pieces Of Eight in 1946, and stayed with them until 1949, providing the vocal on their successful record, ‘Blue Ribbon Gal’. In 1955, Love formed his own band for the television show On The Town, and soon afterwards started recording for EMI/Columbia with His Orchestra and Concert Orchestra. He had his first hit in 1958, with a cover-version of Perez Prado’s cha-cha-cha ‘Patricia’, and made several albums including Enchanted Evenings, Our Very Own and Thanks For The Memory (Academy Award Winning Songs). In 1959, Love started to release some recordings under the pseudonym, Manuel And His Music Of The Mountains, which proved be immensly successful. Besides his own orchestral records, Love provided the accompaniment and arrangements on record, and in concert, for many popular artists such as Connie Francis, Russ Conway, Paul Robeson, Judy Garland, Frankie Vaughan, Johnny Mathis, Des O’Connor, Ken Dodd, Marlene Dietrich and Gracie Fields. In the 70s, he formed yet another group, Billy’s Banjo Band, later known as Geoff Love’s Banjo Band, while still having hits under his own name with Big War Themes, Big Western Movie Themes and Big Love Movie Themes. He also capitalized on the late ‘70s dance fad with several volumes of Geoff Love’s Big Disco Sound, while retaining his more conservative image with Waltzes With Love and Tangos With Love. He was consistently popular on radio, and on television, where, besides conducting the orchestra, he was especially effective as a comic foil to Max Bygraves on his Singalongamax, and similar series. Love’s compositions range from the Latin-styled ‘La Rosa Negra’ to the theme for the hit television situation comedy, Bless This House. Ennio Morricone "Sans Mobile Apparent"

In english called "Without Apparent Motive", this is one of my favorit 1972 movie and soundtrack, Jean-Louis Trintignant plays the main character as Inspector Carella, searching about a killer in Nice. Ennio Morricone's music is sounding here like "The Sicilian Clan" ( another fave of mine, original LP coming soon on SOC ). An end main theme that captivated me since ever...Everyone who's interrested by Morricone's work knows that he's highly prolific ( over 500 hundred scores ! ). I prefer the decade 1965 to 1975, when at the time he was working with Bruno Nicolai for the arrangments. The movie was recorded on MiniDisc ( thanks to MarcoDisco ) then re-cut and sliced by myself, and finally recreated and remastered on CD. I did this because i have a lot of difficulties to find the original soundtrack in shops in France ( featuring 13 tracks and issued by Screen Trax Records ). I found by myself titles for the following 16 tracks and keeped some dialogues that i found "funny" or interresting too. So, you have to know that i am ripping only original vinyls or making my own Champaign compilations or re-works. I don't want make CD's copy, because i think it's to easy. I prefer to do something more and i want to be in peace with my mind to work about it...Like every time, recorded in 192 Kbps + Artwork.

APRIL ORCHESTRA

I have not a lot information about the "collective" April Orchestra. So, i think that we need some grooves now in our north hemisphere. Just because the winter is coming soon...This LP ( volume 8 ) is one of the numerous and prolific APR series. Made for musical illustrations ( radio & TV ), April Orchestra began from the early 70's until the mid 80's. Featuring a wide panel of different musicians, famous or unknown, like Caravelli, Giani Marchetti, Bernard Estardy or Michel Magne, Bruno Nicolai & Ennio Morricone...A lot of volumes, but inequal music quality. This one, the volume 8, seems to be a crossover between funky flavours and a kind of proto-classicism. It look likes when Michel Colombier were meeting François de Roubaix for some jamming sessions ! A great mix between melancholy & groovy enlightments. A good work...If anyone has more information about April Orchestra than i or the web, then let me know, thanx...Recorded in 192 kbs + Artwork.

Un petit post donc ( une fois n'est pas coutume ), et en français ( une fois n'est pas coutume non plus ) afin de répondre aux commentaires...A Steff donc...Je vis tout simplement au Village, la capitale administrative de la région Champagne-Ardenne. A Châlons-en-Champagne précisemment, la belle Venise du nord ou j'ai "choisi" de vivre de nombreuses années. Je ne suis absolument pas natif d'ici, mais d'outre-Rhin et rendons à Cézan(n)e ( le peintre aixois ) ce qui est à Sézanne ( le village marnais )...J'ignore cependant ce que peut être un baptême à la champenoise ? A propos Montparnasse 2000, l'ORTF ne produisait pas de musique, mais était bonne cliente de musiques d'illustrations durant les 60's et 70's. Elle passait commande auprès de la plupart des labels d'illustration musicale ( Library Music ) comme Montparnasse 2000 bien sur, mais aussi Telemusic, Chappell, Musique De Wolfe ou encore Theme Music Records pour n'en citer que quelques uns. Ce sont ces musiques là qui ont servis de bandes originales pour des documentaires, reportages et autres génériques d'émissions TV pendant les années 70. Pour plus d'infos sur ce sujet, je recommande vivement d'aller voir l'incontournable SCOPIA.

Montparnasse 2000

After a latino journey, i'm back with the very first Montparnasse 2000 "signature", a gatefold sleeve including 2 LP's, with the music of Daniel J. White arranged by Dave Sucky. This is the original illustation music owned by the Official French Television (O.R.T.F) in 1969; i found it on a flea market in the village, 10 meters away from my home ! Unfortunatly the only one i have from Montparnasse 2000...

More famous by the work of Jean Jacques Perrey and Janko Nilovic, Montparnasse 2000 was one of the most prolific Library Music in the french scene in the 70's. The second LP is much pretty than the other one. An exercising of Jazz & Spy music, good & mood atmosphere, something to feed your sampler...

Scratchy are both records, what a campfire around ! I keeped the original sound, i'm just recording without any mastering process. Just use SoundForge 4.5 to slice each tracks. If anyone want to have more Library Music on SOC, let me know...Recorded in 192 Kbs + Artwork.

Mambo and Latin perfumes

I was too lazy yesterday to restore a complete LP, so, i had the idea to look after the 7 inch singles that i have (lot of them are from my grand pa, unfortunatly he passed away in 2003 –R.I.P-). I found two 7 inch Extented Play on Capitol Records, the first one by Chuy Reyes & His Orchestra ( mambo at the mocambo ), the second by Arthur Murray & Billy May ( cha cha mambos ). I don't know about the years releases, maybe at the end of the 50's... 2 different files for a mambo party, good work with the scans ( more easy with 7’’ !).

I meet him ( on CD of course ) in 2002 with the All Score Media compilation called "Paramaribo Classics" and i was surprised about his sound work...Brilliant sound and crazy lounge grooves trademarks...the reason, maybe, that All Score Media called this compilation as "the unique sound of Berry Lipman". Yes, it's true...So, after a year, i found this LP on a flea market in Rölzheim (Germany) at the same time than i found "Love is blue"...see before...This LP is made for a Fiesta in the Baleares Islands in the 70's. Very fun, very funny, very jazzy, very cool to listen...There is a mistake on the original A-Side label, BASF called him "Barry Lipman" instead "Berry Lipman". I made the same mistake ! Maybe about my love about John Barry's work...I had a lot of problems with the Artwork, doesn't scan as i hope, but have reached what i wanted, in BMP for the LP labels...All titles are recorded in 192 Kbs + Artwork. Is Quadrophonie working on CD ? Enjoy this in your village...

I had not enough time yesterday to do my "home" work, usually each wednesday i'm ripping my vinyls for SOC (Sounds Of Champaign). But i had a lot to do with my son & Zidane !!! We were occupied with the national french soccer team, waiting for goals...And Zinedine Zidane was the first to open the way to the next 2006 World Cup in Germany...

A lot to do with my usually work to, the french gvt is waiting about me...But just wait until tomorrow and then you will see a splendid LP of Berry Lipman & His Orchestra.

The man with a hammond into his heart, outer limits, outer decades...A lot of fun, through medleys. He's a UFO, of course, but full of hapiness and folk orientated. Taste the sound of Wunderlich Hammond's and enjoy your spacetime parties. Sometimes i could prefer CAN or NEU, but Klaus brings me a lot of " volks " 70's german -all day living- reminescences. He was a folk popster until the end of that world. Here it is, a full Hammond Pops, volume 8, with a beautiful LP cover, nice, isn't it ?

Armando Travaioli

...was born in Rome on July 21st 1917. He took his diploma at the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome and he began to make a name for himself, immediatly after the war, as an important jazz musician.

About 1953, he began an interesting career as composer; arranger and conductor of film soundtracks,with considerable results, both technically and artistically speaking. Beat Records is very proud to present in this second volume of the series "collectors' Releases" the music from the film "L'URLO DEI GIGANTI" composed and conducted by Trovaioli in 1969. This musical score of exceptional interest, that is a precise witness to all of the great work carried out and developped by Travaioli for the Italian cinema industry.

At this point we must citee some of the important moments of Trovaioli's music, that is : "La Ciociara" (1960: Vittori De Sica) "Italiani Brava Gente" (1964: De Santis) "Sette Uomini D'Oro" (1965: Marco Vicario) "Matrimonio all'Italiana" (194: Vittorio De Sica yet again) together with many, many other great successes, but in order to familiarize oneself with Trovaioli's music all you need is to listen to this record and discover the enormous quantity of emotions, feelings and human values that exists in each and every one of us and also in Travaioli's music which punctually live and re-lives every time you listen to it.

Armando Travaioli and his music: an iseparable couple, formed by many secret undefinable sensations, that represent, at the same time the man and the artist, and in a highly significant way, they illustrate the multiple aspects, all of great interest, of film soundtrack music in Italy. A true message, that is, as true as it's author because Armando Trovaioli has been, and still is much more than a composer, just an arranger and just a conductor because the secret of his music comes from the most simple and human emotions, live in all of us, and the orchestra is only a magical kaleidoscope of light and shade that Trovaioli uses to demonstrate something of real and precious value...

Great stuff for DJ's and highly recommanded for sampling activities !

Tonight i will work on Armando Trovaioli's "l'urlo dei giganti" OST, a movie made by Léon Klimovsky feat. Jack Palance, John Gramack & Andrea Bosic. In german titled "panzerschlacht an der Marne" !! This movie came out in 1968, but, i've never see it... or i can't remember...And hope to bring tomorrow this full LP on the right way...Because, because : I missed the time, between working @ home on 2 PC's configuration and my own work...I had a dream, i had more time...

I've decided to delete all links from past shares after One month since the publication; but in the future too...Just enough time to load Serge Gainsbourg & John Barry's work until October the 13th,

And now the next 31 weeks...maybe not definitly, but programmed to be on Sounds Of Champaign...

…with the " youth plosion " taking place around the world, the late 1960’s finds young people creating exciting new trends in the arts and music. Fresh new sounds from electric guitars, swinging organs, indian sitars and all sorts of percussion instruments and electronic sounds, to create the moods of beat and psychedelia…

The cover with the paintfull coloured girl.I bought this LP in Rölzheim (Germany), on a flew market.I did'nt know it before i saw this wonderfull cover. I was curious to hear my found, credited by the 101 Strings,The Petards, and The Spots. Recorded maybe between 1969 and 1971 (there's no year credit) on the german "Europa" label, you will find some tracks too "kitch", but there are few gems on this LP between pure " garage rock " titles, especially " Karma sitar ", a real & pure psychedelic hit performed by the 101 Strings.

The vinyl quality is average & was ripped @ 192 Kb

A propos Travail, Internet et Liberté, (Egalité, Fraternité ?…)

Désolé tout d’abord pour les anglophones, car ici je rédigerai en français – la langue de Molière, que je maîtrise encore le mieux – l’expression de mon plus profond regret et mécontentement quand à la nature même de l’évolution informatique et du web…Il est, en effet, communément admis qu’au travail on ne doit pas aller sur Internet en dehors de sites ayant une filiation " naturelle " avec la nature même dudit travail. Soit, il existe donc des filtres installés au niveaux des serveurs réseaux afin d’empêcher l’internaute-travailleur ou le travailleur-internaute ( c’est selon ) non vertueux de pouvoir accéder à des sites X ou autres dans le même esprit tordu…Mais voilà, avant chaque passage à niveau, il est bien souvent inscris " un train peut en cacher un autre ".

On pourra toujours commander à La Redoute, s’échanger des E-mails, consulter la Fnac, Air France, Total, TF1 ou Le site du 1er Ministre, mais pas voir sa vidéo ( et oui, pas de RealPlayer installé et installable sur un PC WinXP, c’est pour dire, même pas le droit de changer d’heure soit même, tellement la bécane est paramétrée ). Voilà donc que ces fameux " filtres " s’attaquent également aux moyens de communications et d’échanges d’informations, un peu comme si, sous prétexte d’une vague d’attentats, l’armée resserrerait l’étaux sur le reste de la société civile… Scénario noir, pour une réalité qui se trouve déjà à nos portes…et qui va également finir par régir sur le net…

Il en va de même pour ce blog, Il me sera difficile, je pense, de pouvoir " l’alimenter " depuis mon lieux de travail – ayant une connexion modem 56K à la maison - ; alors que somme toute, il ne s’agit là que de quelques clics de souris…Ne me reste plus qu’à adhérer à une connexion haut débit @ home afin de pouvoir continuer mes activités que je qualifie volontiers de " culturelles ".

Le " village " a donc ses limites, peut importe où l’on va, on aura toujours les " boules " - blanches - pour nous rattraper dans notre désir de liberté…

D'où la correction ! car à mon sens, c'est le titre que je préfère sur

track number 8, the last one, entitled "meeting with Grantby and fight"
is wrong. in fact, it's the main theme from "Ipcress File" called
"Ipcress File (Main Theme)"

So, milles excuses, here is it, from the original Decca vinyl...

meets James Bond with this full original LP from 1973. A friend of mine found it on a flew market in France. We knowned "you only live twice" on a nice flavored 2 CD’s compilation made by the italian label IRMA and called "the morning side of love". Very hard to find in France too, i saw it for 30 Euros on the web! Thanx God of Vinyls, we are lucky enough to find some of them for 1 Euro...So; this is my first Champaign vinyl resurection work, established since the 192 Kb !!!
